Western Australian non-executive director, Kellie Benda, has been appointed to the Board of the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) for a three-year term.
The appointment comes alongside a commitment by the Federal Government to work with the NRFC to expand its footprint in Western Australia with a new permanent office, following a request by the WA Government.
Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic said today’s announcement recognises how vital Western Australian businesses are to a strong national economy.
“With 255,400 Western Australian businesses driving productivity and growth for the nation, we know there’s rich opportunity for the NRFC to drive further growth within the state,” said Mr Husic.
“Ms Benda’s knowledge and skills in leadership, finance and strategic planning paired with a comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian corporate landscape make her a valuable addition to the NRFC Board.
“This latest appointment completes the NRFC’s stable of exceptional executive talent, further enhancing its ability to diversify and transform Australia’s manufacturing capability.”
Minister Husic said Ms Benda (pictured) brings an understanding of significant sectors of the Western Australian economy including the mining, resources and agricultural sectors, paired with a passionate commitment to the sustained growth and success of her home state Western Australia.
Her career spans three decades, with expertise in strategy, finance, corporate development, risk, capital markets and customer engagement. She has held senior executive roles across a variety of ASX20-300 companies including positions as Executive General Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer.
“I am honoured to contribute to the NRFC’s mission of strengthening Australia’s industrial base,” said Ms Benda.
“I look forward to leveraging my diverse experience to support initiatives that drive innovation, sustainability and economic resilience.”
The role of the NRFC is to invest in Australian businesses and projects which sit within seven priority areas, to help boost Aussie manufacturing capability, grow a skilled workforce and diversify our economy.
