The WA Government has appointed Carrie Clark as Chair and six new members to the WA Carers Advisory Council, which advises the government on issues affecting the state’s unpaid carer workforce.
The six new appointees are:
- Amber Anthony
- Dr Barbara Goodwin
- Angelina Watson
- Thurka Sitparan
- Ann Dawson
- Tracey Constable.
Community Services Minister, Matthew Swinbourn said the new members bring diverse expertise and lived experience across caring roles, advocacy, health, disability and community services.
Ms Clark has been appointed Chair, succeeding Esme Bowen after more than a decade of dedicated service.
An existing Council member and former CEO of Kiind, Ms Clark brings extensive experience in community development, alongside lived experience of disability.
Outgoing Chair, Esme Bowen has provided dedicated leadership to the Council since 2015, helping inform government decision-making on issues affecting carers.
“The WA Carers Advisory Council is an important voice in the sector, so having such strong advocates joining the Council is very pleasing,” said Minister Swinbourn.
“I would like to congratulate Carrie Clark on her appointment to the role of Chair.
“Esme Bowen has done an incredible job for over a decade in the role, and I thank her sincerely for her contributions to the Council.
“I look forward to welcoming the new members to the Council. I’m confident they will provide strong and effective representation for the 320,000 carers in Western Australia.”
