New managing director for Tourism WA

Hospitality and hotel project manager, Anneke Brown, has been appointed as Tourism Western Australia’s new managing director.

Ms Brown has 25 years of international, national and local experience in hospitality leadership roles and has worked closely with prestigious hotels in Western Australia to elevate their offerings.

“We welcome the appointment of Anneke Brown as managing director, and look forward to working closely with her to further develop Western Australia’s growing tourism industry,” said Tourism WA Chair, Di Bain.

“The managing director position is instrumental in marketing Western Australia as an incredible holiday and events destination and inspiring people to visit us from around Australia and the world.

“Anneke brings with her vital leadership experience and advanced knowledge of the hospitality industry which will only bolster the incredible work of Tourism WA in elevating the State as a desirable destination around the world.”

Ms Brown’s experience includes senior roles with global hotel brands including Aman Resorts and COMO Hotels & Resorts.

She is also the Chair of WA’s Women in Tourism and Hospitality association and a former Tourism WA Board Commissioner.

Ms Brown will take over the managing director role at Tourism WA from Steph Underwood, who has acted in the role since May 2024.

“Ms Brown brings with her a tremendous wealth of international experience in tourism and hospitality, which is vital to developing Western Australia’s tourism industry and continuing to make our state the destination of choice,” said Tourism Minister, Rita Saffioti.

“I would also like to thank Steph Underwood for her dedication and commitment as acting managing director since May 2024.”

Ms Brown has been appointed for a five-year term which will commence on Monday, 9 December.
