The Queensland Government has announced a new chair and two new board directors for the state’s key industry body, Construction Skills Queensland.
Incoming Construction Skills Queensland Chair, Sue-Ann Fresneda (pictured) will be joined by board directors, Kate Raymond and Adrian Gabrielli, who collectively boast more than 55 years of industry and employee advocacy experience, the Government said in a statement announcing their appointments.
The new directors will join industry and employee representatives to oversee the training body. The independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supports employers, workers, apprentices and trainees in the building and construction industry.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates welcomed the added experience to the refreshed Construction Skills Queensland board.
“To ensure we have a world-class workforce ready to build the infrastructure Queensland needs, we need real experience and vision at the top, and that’s exactly what we see in this new Construction Skills Queensland board,” Minister Bates said.
“The former Labor Government spent more time looking after its union mates than focusing on what really matters to Queenslanders in the construction industry.
“We’re focusing on building a skills pipeline to help keep up with the housing construction demand.”
The new board directors will be supported by continuing CSQ directors Damian Long, Penny Cornah, Rohan Webb and Marina Chambers.
The new Construction Skills Queensland Board includes the following directors:
- Ms Sue-Ann Fresneda (Chair), Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Master Builders Queensland (new director)
- Ms Kate Raymond, Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary of Master Electricians Australia (new director)
- Mr Adrian Gabrielli, Managing Director, Gabrielli Group (new director)
- Ms Chantal Llora, Deputy Director-General (Engagement), Department of Trade, Employment and Training (new director)
- Ms Penny Cornah, Chief Executive Officer, Master Plumbers Association of Queensland (continuing director)
- Mr Damian Long, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary for the Civil Contractors Federation (continuing director)
- Mr Rohan Webb, State Secretary of the Queensland and Northern Territory Branch, Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (continuing director)
- Ms Marina Chambers, Queensland Branch President and National President, Australian Workers’ Union (continuing director).
Minister Bates thanked outgoing board directors for providing their direction and advice to Construction Skills Queensland.
