WA Regional Development Minister, Stephen Dawson, has announced the appointment of two new members to the Wheatbelt Development Commission Board.
Gail Beck has been appointed Deputy Chair. Ms Beck is executive manager cultural integration at Ruah Community Services and has held a range of governance roles across Aboriginal organisations and advisory bodies in WA.
Melanie Brown has been appointed as a Local Government Representative. President of the Shire of Trayning, Ms Brown brings extensive experience in local government and regional collaboration, as well as strong ties to the Wheatbelt through her work and family farming enterprise.
Shane Kay has been reappointed as a Community Representative for a second term. Based in Jurien Bay, Mr Kay offers significant expertise in agribusiness, regional industry development and business management.
Tony O’Gorman has been reappointed as a Local Government Representative for a second term. As president of the Shire of Dandaragan, he provides valuable experience in local government, regional advocacy and community leadership.
“The Wheatbelt Development Commission Board plays an important role in providing strategic direction and oversight to support the region’s long-term economic development,” said Mr Dawson.
“The Board brings together a diverse range of perspectives to help identify opportunities, address challenges and support strong outcomes for Wheatbelt communities.
“I congratulate the new and returning Board members on their appointments and acknowledge the contribution of those who are concluding their terms.”
Wheatbelt Minister, Sabine Winton acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Board members Oral McGuire and Rosemary Madacsi and thanks them for their service to the Wheatbelt region.
Mr McGuire served on the board for six years, including as Deputy Chair, while Ms Madacsi served for two years as the Local Government Representative.
“I also thank outgoing Board members Oral McGuire and Rosemary Madacsi for their service and contribution to the Commission and the Wheatbelt region,” said Ms Winton.
“I look forward to working with the Board as they continue to support opportunities for growth, investment and strong communities across the Wheatbelt.”
