The Queensland Government has announced the appointment of two senior legal figures to the Board of Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ) and the Queensland Law Reform Commission.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington congratulated Darren Robinson and Dr Bridget Cullen, saying each of the appointees brought a wealth of experience in law and decision making to LAQ and QLRC respectively.
“Both the QLRC and LAQ are vital institutions in the justice portfolio that work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of both disadvantaged Queenslanders and our state’s large statute book,” the Attorney-General said.
“I am pleased these organisation’s Boards will now benefit from the depth of experience and expertise that Dr Cullen and Mr Robinson bring, and I thank them for their commitment to public service.”
“I am confident their skills and commitment will be invaluable in helping ensure the legal needs of the community continue to be met into the future.”
Currently the sole Director of a North Queensland criminal law practice, Salt Legal, Mr Robinson has spent three decades working in investigations through to legal advocacy, firstly as a Queensland Police Officer for twenty years and later as a solicitor.
Dr Cullen has many years of senior decision-making experience including at QCAT and most recently as a Senior Member at the Commonwealth Administrative Review Tribunal.
She has also taught Evidence Law at Griffith University for more than 25 years and spent more than one decade in private practice.
In 2019, Dr Cullen was the recipient of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland ‘Lawyer of the Year Award’ and in 2025 received a Parent’s Special Commendation award from Autism Queensland.
The appointees commence their three-year terms today (6 March).
