Mike Rowe formally appointed as Communities DG

The WA Government has confirmed the formal appointment of Mike Rowe to the position of Director General at the Department of Communities (Communities).

Mr Rowe (pictured) first moved into the role in 2021, having transferred from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation where he also held the position of Director General.

“I want to congratulate Mike Rowe on his appointment as Communities Director General and look forward to continuing to work closely with him,” said Community Services Minister, Sabine Winton.

“Communities delivers vital support to thousands of Western Australians every single day and the agency is well served under his leadership.”

Mr Rowe’s formal appointment will continue to see him leading Communities’ strategic plan with the agency responsible for delivering vital frontline social services across critical State Government functions such as Housing, Child Protection, Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Community Services and Disability Services.

“Mike Rowe is a dedicated and passionate leader who brings a great deal of experience to the role,” said Housing and Homelessness Minister, John Carey.

“I value his genuine commitment to driving social reform in Western Australia and look forward to continuing our established, strong working relationship.”
