Melbourne East Police have arrested a man after two iconic plastic ice cream cones were stolen from a general store in East Melbourne last week.
It is alleged the 1970’s decorative cones were stolen from the front of the store at around 2am on Hotham Street on 25 May.
Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Templestowe Lower last night.
A 50-year-old man was arrested and interviewed in relation to the theft.
He was released and is expected to be charged on summons.
“The cones, which have been on the shop front for around 50 years, had allegedly been sold online,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“They were located at a Gisborne address this morning and will be returned to the store.”
