SafeWork NSW are investigating the circumstances of a fatal incident on a worksite in the state’s north west yesterday.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to the Kamilaroi Highway, about 60km south of Walgett, following reports a man had been struck by a truck at a worksite.
“Officers attached to Central North Police District attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, the man – aged 40 – died at the scene,” Police said.
“The driver – a 22-year-old man – was taken to Walgett District Hospital for mandatory testing.”
A crime scene was established, and an investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the accident, Police said.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
