A learner motorcycle rider has been schooled by Victoria Police after allegedly being caught travelling at 135km/h in a 40km/h school zone in Lalor.
Victoria Police say members of the Fawkner Highway Patrol and Mernda Uniform were working Operation Overwatch when they spotted the rider travelling along Dalton Road just before 4pm on Friday.
“The vehicle was detected at an alleged speed of 135km/h in the 40km/h zone,” Victoria Police said.
“Officers intercepted the motorcycle and spoke with the rider who produced a learner permit which he had only held for two months.”
The 20-year-old South Morang man is expected to be charged on summons with exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more.
He was forced to walk home after officers impounded his motorbike for a period of 30 days at a cost of $999.52
