A land deal between the WA Government and Australasian real estate group, Centuria Capital, has been reached, marking a key milestone in the development of a new town centre at Alkimos.
Centuria will develop the 2.4-hectare site, which will be the first stage of a $33 million retail and services precinct featuring a full-line supermarket, a childcare centre, medical and allied health services, and speciality, convenience and hospitality stores.
Located just 100 metres from Alkimos Station and 150 metres from the future Alkimos Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Centuria’s development is expected to open in 2027.
“Centuria’s investment is establishing Alkimos Central as a lively, mixed-use town centre close to transport, green spaces, shops and essential services,” said Planning and Lands Minister, John Carey.
“This project brings us another step closer to delivering our government’s METRONET Precinct vision to create communities that are better connected and great places to live.
“Our government is doing everything it can to accelerate housing supply, especially near train stations and along public transport corridors.”
Integrated with a public central park and main street, the Centuria development will also include the first stage of a pedestrian laneway link from the station through future retail stages, and a variety of landscaped spaces.
The development builds on the momentum already underway across Alkimos Central and supports the State Government’s METRONET vision for a connected, transit-oriented community that brings together housing, transport and essential services.

“METRONET is the single largest investment in public transport that Perth has ever seen, and this investment will help our government deliver a better-connected city with more transport, housing and employment choices,” said Treasurer and Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti.
“No matter where we live – in our suburbs, our towns, or our remote communities – I want all Western Australians to have access to local job opportunities, as well as essential infrastructure and services.”
In the past five years, Centuria has developed and delivered more than $1 billion of new retail, healthcare, industrial, and office assets, as well as social infrastructure, throughout Australia and New Zealand.
In Western Australia, it has developed and delivered significant assets, including Services Australia’s new office development in Bunbury, an oncology centre in St John of God Murdoch Hospital, large format retail developments, key healthcare infrastructure projects and industrial facilities.
