Homes Victoria, in partnership with community housing provider, HousingFirst, has welcomed residents into 99 new homes at the Oakover Road, Preston redevelopment.
The new housing at Oakover Road replaces 26 public housing dwellings that were no longer fit for purpose with 296 new homes – including 99 new social homes and 197 new market homes.
The new social homes are now complete and have been designed to be modern, sustainable, energy efficient and meet the Gold Livable Housing Design guidelines.
As part of the redevelopment, a communal rooftop lounge and garden, community gallery and a new pocket park have been created for residents to enjoy.
HousingFirst, will help to activate the gallery space by hosting a range of activities, events and workshops.
They will also assist renters to access community support services and programs, where appropriate, creating a strong, connected community, Homes Victoria said in a statement.
