The Victorian Government has appointed new member Dennis Bice and reappointed Adam Kilgour to steer the board of Harness Racing Victoria (HRV), Minister for Racing, Anthony Carbines, has announced.
“I would like to congratulate Mr Bice and Mr Kilgour on their appointments – their combined wealth of experience in the industry will help to strengthen Harness Racing Victoria’s board,” said Minister for Racing, Anthony Carbines.
“I thank outgoing Chair Dale Monteith for his many years of tireless service to Victorian harness racing during a pivotal transition period for the industry – he will be missed.”
The Minister said Mr Bice brings a wealth of industry experience, including eight years as an executive at the Victorian Harness Racing Club and six years as President of the Bendigo Harness Racing Club.
Mr Bice has recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Bendigo Stadium Limited since 2021. Prior to that he was Chief Executive Officer of organisation Be.Bendigo. He is also the owner operator of breeding operation, Yorkshire Park.
“Mr Kilgour will serve as Chair for an initial period of six months and his reappointment will ensure vital leadership and continuity for the HRV board, on which he has served as a member since 2017,” said Mr Carbines.
Mr Kilgour will take the reins from outgoing Chair Dale Monteith, who has been Chair for close to a decade.
Mr Monteith oversaw the board during a period of significant change for the industry, including the adoption of a national ratings system, the racing season’s change to a calendar year, and the negotiation of new funding arrangements following the end of the current wagering licence, the Minister said.
Mr Bice and Mr Kilgour will each serve two-year terms on the board of HRV. Minister Carbines said he intends to announce further appointments in the coming months.
