The WA Government has awarded a $250,000 grant to support the development of a Goldfields Indigenous Healing Service (IHS).
Ngunytju Tjitji Pirni (NTP) Aboriginal Corporation has been awarded the one-year grant to undertake community engagement, determine the viability of a Kalgoorlie-Boulder IHS and develop a place-based service delivery model.
The IHS model provides services for children and young people impacted by abuse including child sexual abuse and is informed by traditional and local Aboriginal healing practices.
“The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a priority of the Cook Government,” said Child Protection Minister, Jessica Stojkovski.
“This $250,000 grant will help the development of a Goldfields Indigenous Healing Service to provide more support for those living regionally.
“Importantly, it will also help boost ACCO-led service delivery to ensure our communities have access to culturally appropriate supports.”Â
The Government recently awarded NTP the Goldfields Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) contract. IFSS provides intensive support to children and families at risk of involvement or involved with the child protection system.
The contract was awarded as part of the Government’s Earlier Intervention and Family Support (EIFS) commissioning of services across Western Australia, which are delivering a record level of Aboriginal-led support for children and families.
