Global tech company to open Victorian HQ

A leading global tech and transformation company has chosen Melbourne for its Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) headquarters.

With support from the Victorian Government, UST has relocated its ANZ HQ from Sydney to Carlton, launching a new Innovation Lab at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Connect tech hub which is set to create 250 jobs over three years.

The Melbourne lab is UST’s eighth Innovation Lab and joins a network that spans across the US, UK, Europe and Asia. UST’s lab will bring together Australian businesses and their customers, and UST’s partners, to grow through business and digital transformation, driven by academic and commercial collaboration.

“We are delighted that UST has set up in Melbourne – it’s another win for our burgeoning tech sector and for jobs,” said Minister for Economic Development, Tim Pallas.

“Global digital tech companies come to Victoria because we have the skilled workforce, the education and training infrastructure and the business environment they need to succeed.”

UST’s primary tech partners include Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, Adobe, Google Cloud, SAP, intel, ORACLE and OutSystems, and the Melbourne Innovation Lab and Collaboration Space will be a ‘landing pad’ for further expansion of its global portfolio of companies that focus on cybersecurity, customer experience, data and analytics, the Minister said.

A key focus for UST is its Step IT Up Australia program that engages with indigenous and refugee communities and unemployed women to recruit candidates with no digital experience for six months’ paid training, then entry-level role placement on UST client projects. More than 20 people will be recruited for the Victorian Step IT Up program.

Established in California in 1999, UST is a leading management consultancy and provider of end-to-end digital transformation solutions and services, with more than 31,000 employees in 30 countries.

“The Victorian Government through Invest Vitoria has supported UST to bring our global experience and market-leading products, platforms and IP to Victoria, which will help drive business value for Australian organisations and accelerate the development of tech talent in Victoria,” said UST Managing Director – ANZ, Matthew McCormack.
