The Select Committee on Victoria’s early childhood education and care sector has requested former Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People, Liana Buchanan (pictured), attend a public hearing following information published in the media in June.
The Committee will hold an additional public hearing on Monday 3 August to question Ms Buchanan about evidence she previously provided to the inquiry, following a media report which suggested inconsistencies between available data and the evidence that was presented.
“This hearing will provide Ms Buchanan with the opportunity to respond to the matters raised in the media report to ensure that there is complete accuracy in the evidence she provided to us,” said Select Committee Chair, Anasina Gray-Barberio.
“We have been granted an extension of time to present our final report so that we can conduct this additional hearing.”
The Select Committee will now table its final report by 9 September.
The additional public hearing will be livestreamed on the Committee’s website from 4pm on Monday 3 August.
