Former teacher charged with historical sexual assault

A 79-year-old former Varroville teacher has been charged over an alleged historical sexual assault in the state’s south-west.

In at statement, NSW Police said that in June 2023, officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into historical reports of sexual assault of a student by a teacher at a school in Varroville.

“It will be alleged that between 1990 and 1992, a male teacher sexually assaulted a female student on multiple occasions on the school grounds and at a home in Ingleburn,” NSW Police said.

“Following extensive inquiries, Police today issued a 79-year-old man with a Court Attendance Notice for two counts of sex assault indecent ass person under 16 under authority and two counts of carnal knowledge teacher of girl 16 & under 17 years.”

He is due to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 11 November.
