The NSW Government has endorsed the first tranche of projects through its Investment Delivery Authority (IDA), marking a major milestone plans for the delivery of high‑value private sector investment across the state.
The IDA will support 16 projects collectively worth $34.4 billion in potential investment, following evaluation of proposals submitted through the opening round of Expressions of Interest (EOI).
The endorsed projects include 14 energy projects, valued at $34 billion.
“The Investment Delivery Authority is helping accelerate the NSW Electricity Roadmap to keep the lights on and make sure families and businesses have energy they can trust and afford,” said Minister for Energy, Penny Sharpe.
“These endorsed projects will mean more reliable and affordable power for NSW, and more jobs and investment right across the state, particularly in regional NSW.”
Two hotel projects valued at $482 million have also been endorsed to proceed to the next stage.
“A strong visitor economy depends on having the right infrastructure in the right places, from quality accommodation to the services that support growing visitor demand,” said Minister for Jobs and Tourism, Steve Kamper.
“The major hotel projects endorsed through the Investment Delivery Authority have the potential to strengthen NSW’s visitor economy, support local jobs and deliver lasting benefits for communities.”
The first EOI round also included proposals related to data centres and technology. The Government said evaluation of the projects is being finalised and will be announced separately, recognising the scale of the energy, water and infrastructure coordination associated with the sector.
IDA endorsed projects will now receive specialist Government support from a dedicated concierge service, a planning assessments team within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and from a multi-agency Investment Taskforce based in the Premier’s Department.
“The Investment Delivery Authority reflects the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting industry and investment by creating the right conditions for major projects to progress,” said Minister for Industry and Trade, Anoulack Chanthivong.
“Attracting investment in areas such as renewable energy and energy security is critical to NSW’s future competitiveness and economic resilience, and directly supports the missions outlined in the Industry Policy to build a more innovative, sustainable and globally competitive economy.
“By helping both international and domestic investors navigate the NSW government, the IDA will be instrumental in turning our state’s competitive advantages into long term growth.”
“The Investment Delivery Authority supports better government coordination across all stages of complex and significant projects,” said Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully.
“By bringing multiple arms of government together we’re supporting better outcomes for communities, jobs and the economy.
“Each of these projects is an investment in a brighter future for NSW.”
