Pull up a chair, grab a cuppa, and join us for a relaxed afternoon of learning and connection – all about Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E).

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your existing skills, these free, in-person sessions are packed with practical insights, ready-to-use templates, and real-world examples you can take straight back to your workplace.

Come for one session or stay for both – with afternoon tea on us. It’s flexible, informative, and a great way to build your M&E confidence and network with your peers.

    Afternoon Tea Agenda

1:30pm Session 1: No more terrible meetings! Soft skills to elevate your presence and efficacy as an evaluator

We spend a lot of time teaching evaluators methods – how to design a survey, how to develop interview questions, how to conduct robust analyses, how to triangulate our findings in an evidence-based way, and more.

We spend less time, or assume that it’s picked up somewhere along the way, on how evaluators navigate the tricky interpersonal situations they encounter, like that consult that went badly, or that meeting with the executive that bombed, or the important decision that got deferred again.

This session shares with attendees the approaches and soft skills necessary to both elevate your presence and be seen as a strategic partner, and to enhance your efficacy as an evaluator who uses influence, negotiation and conflict resolution to skilfully land the evaluation report and ensure its recommendations are implemented.

3:00pm Session 2: How to put your program in the best light for budget bids – effective evaluation planning and program design for success

Many organisations are starting to enter budget bid season, and/or planning for the annual budget development ahead. We often hear frustration that a great program went unfunded, while less impactful initiatives gained secure funding.

This session covers effective evaluation planning, so that you can design an evaluation that answers the questions decision-makers want to know, and addresses the priorities they weigh up when considering future funding investments; smart business case development, to both maximise your program’s chances of being funded while minimising stress and effort in the business case development process; and provides guidance on program design that enhances the likelihood that intended outcomes will actually be delivered on.

Come along for tips and tricks on all of the above, delivered by experienced practitioners who will share their war stories, what to do, and what NOT to do with you to help you keep your sanity through the budget bid process!

We look forward to seeing you there.
