The Victorian Legislative Council Economy and Infrastructure Committee will this week hold the final hearing of its inquiry into how the state can best harmonise electric vehicles (EVs) with electricity supply and demand.
The inquiry is exploring a range of issues, including strategies to reduce EV charging during periods of peak demand on the electricity grid and increase charging during times of peak supply. It is examining whether public charging infrastructure is being rolled out at a sufficient rate across Victoria, particularly in older suburbs where off-street parking is limited.
The hearing will be held from 10 am on Thursday 12 March and broadcast live on the Committee’s website.
Electricity distribution companies CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy (CPU) will appear at the hearing, as well as vehicle charging company Connected Kerb.
The Committee will also hear from research company EV FireSafe and academic experts in chemistry and electrical engineering from RMIT University.
The Committee will table its final report by 31 May.
