The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition got underway in Perth today, with more than 1,800 university leaders, academics and staff from across the world expected to attend.
The APAIE is celebrating 20 years since being established with its 17th conference and exhibition being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“Hosting APAIE 2024 in Perth is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our local universities and what they can offer to students from across the globe. I commend our State’s universities and StudyPerth for collaborating to deliver this conference here in Perth,” said International Education Minister, David Templeman.
“I look forward to hearing about the productive partnerships formed at APAIE 2024, including student mobility partnerships to and from Western Australia.
“Collaborating with education leaders and policy makers throughout the Asia-Pacific region will help create further opportunities for the Western Australian international education sector,” he said.
The last time the conference was held in Australia was in Melbourne in 2016.
Universities from around the world come to APAIE to share strategies and collaborate on programs that enhance education around the world.
More than 1,800 university leaders, academics and professional staff from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and North and South America will be attending APAIE 2024.
As part of the conference, 700 delegates will visit Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, the University of Notre Dame Australia and the University of Western Australia to see first-hand what local students experience.
