A 30-year-old man has been charged after NSW Police seized a commercial quantity of cocaine and ‘Ice’ during a vehicle stop in the state’s south-west.
Police say officers attached to Traffic South West, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting patrols of the Hay area shortly before 2pm on Friday, when they stopped a black Jaguar F-Pace on the Sturt Highway, about 150km west of Griffith.
The driver was subjected to roadside breath test which returned a negative result, before being subjected to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result.
When the man was searched, Police will allege they found cocaine and cash in his possession.
Officers conducted a search of the black Jaguar and seized more than 5kg methlyamphetamine, almost 11kg cocaine, more than $130,000 cash, and two mobile phones. The drugs have an estimated potential combined street value of over $6.3 million.
The driver was arrested and taken to Hay Police Station where he was charged with seven offences,
- Supply prohibited drug equal to or more than large commercial quantity (two counts);
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of general crime with value of $100,000 or more;
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) (three counts); and
- Possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 29 October.
