Fairfield Hospital is a step closer to its biggest upgrade in 35 years with the appointment of the redevelopment project’s lead design team.
The NSW Government is investing $550 million to expand and upgrade Fairfield Hospital.
In the coming months, the lead design team will work with Health Infrastructure and South Western Sydney Local Health District to identify future service requirements and commence early planning for the site.
“The redevelopment of Fairfield Hospital will significantly enhance the healthcare of our community and I am excited the project is progressing,” said South Western Sydney Local Health District Chief Executive, Sonia Marshall.
“The hospital redevelopment is the foundation of a new ‘health neighbourhood’ for the Fairfield area, which will provide contemporary, integrated health care close to home.”
The scope of the Fairfield Hospital redevelopment will be finalised during the planning and design phase and construction timeframes will be confirmed once a builder is engaged, the Government confirmed today.
The design team includes architect, Architectus, and project manager, Turner & Townsend and cost manager, Genus Advisory, who were appointed following a competitive tender process.
“This redevelopment will deliver sustainable, purpose-built new health facilities which can meet our health needs for generations to come,” said Minister for Health, Ryan Park.
