Departing WA public health leader recognised for service

Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) Board Chair, Dr Rosanna Capolingua AM, has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to Western Australia’s public health system.

After more than three years at the helm, Dr Capolingua (pictured) has decided to finish up her successful tenure as the head of the CAHS Board, with today marking her final day in the role.

The Cook Government thanked Dr Capolingua for her significant contribution to child and adolescent health.

“I’ve known Dr Capolingua for many years, and it was my great pleasure to appoint her to the CAHS Board when I was Health Minister in 2021,” said WA Premier, Roger Cook.

“Dr Capolingua brought a wealth of knowledge to the role as an icon of the industry here in WA.

“Her contribution to CAHS is significant and I thank her for everything she has done.”

Dr Capolingua has extensive experience across health care delivery and the medical profession.

Prior to her work on the CAHS Board, Dr Capolingua served as the Australian Medical Association WA President, as the only female in that role, and as Federal AMA President.

In 2023, Dr Capolingua was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for her significant service to patient care, to medicine, and as a role model to women.

“Dr Capolingua has steered the Child and Adolescent Health Service during a time of great change and the health service is so much the better for her incredible work,” said Health Minister, Amber-Jade Sanderson.

“CAHS is now on a great path thanks to her leadership and extensive expertise.

“As Health Minister, I have enjoyed working with Dr Capolingua on projects to improve the health of children and young people in WA and she will be missed.

“CAHS is in great hands with Ms Michael who I congratulate on her new role.”

Ms Pamela Michael, who formerly held the role of Deputy Chair, will replace Dr Capolingua as Board Chair of the Child and Adolescent Health Service.

Ms Michael, a senior solicitor and former registered nurse, has extensive legal, insurance, health, corporate and executive management expertise.
