Darwin man, 65, charged after woman struck by car

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 65-year-old man in Darwin after a woman was struck by a car on Saturday.

In a statement, Police said that at around 5:40pm on 17 January, the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received a report of a car versus pedestrian crash at a hotel in the Darwin northern suburb of Jingili.

“Casuarina general duties officers attended the incident, which was captured on CCTV, and arrested the alleged offender at the scene,” Police said.

“It is alleged that the driver intentionally ran over the 38-year-old woman, who is known to him.”

The man has been charged with Recklessly Endanger Serious Harm.

The victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance where she was being treated for a suspected broken leg.
