Gold Coast police conducting proactive patrols as part of Tropical Cyclone Alfred community safety activities, have arrested two men and seized more than $630,000 of drugs, after intercepting a vehicle at Burleigh Heads yesterday.
Detectives from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad were deployed to conduct proactive patrols focused on community safety during the unfolding weather event on the Gold Coast.
Just after 11.30am on Newcastle Street, officers observed a man on a motorbike place a bag in a parked silver VW Golf before driving from the scene.
Police intercepted the vehicle, locating 2.1kg of methamphetamine, 22.6 grams of heroin, a small quantity of cannabis and cash, mobile phones, a taser and flick knife.
The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old Indooroopilly man, was taken into custody.
While police were conducting a search of the vehicle, a man approached them allegedly stating his backpack was in the vehicle.

Police searched the local area locating a stolen Ducati Panigale motorbike nearby, which was also seized.
The 37-year-old Browns Plains man was taken into custody, police will allege he was the driver of the motorbike.
He has been charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, supply dangerous drugs, possess thing used in crime, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and disqualified driving.

The 46-year-old man has been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count each of supply dangerous drugs, possess thing used in commission of a crime, possess property suspected to be proceeds of crime and possess utensils.
Both men are expected to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court today, via videolink.
