Critical incident declared after death of officer

A critical incident investigation is underway following the death of a NSW Police officer at Bateau Bay yesterday.

In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 6am on Monday, a 56-year-old male Sergeant was found deceased at a home in Bateau Bay.

“Initial inquiries indicate the man’s death is not suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner,” NSW Police said.

“A critical incident investigation is underway which will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).”
