Concept design released for new $2 billion Bankstown Hospital

The concept design for the NSW Government’s new $2 billion Bankstown Hospital has been released, outlining the proposed layout and key features of the state-of-the art health facility.

The project is the largest single capital works investment in a public hospital in the state’s history.

Located in the heart of Bankstown’s CBD, the new hospital will help meet the healthcare needs of South-West Sydney’s fast-growing and diverse communities now and into the future, said Minister for Health, Ryan Park.

“We are building Bankstown’s hospital of the future. Each floor of the new hospital is being developed in close consultation with our hard-working health staff, clinicians, and community,” said Minister Park.

“This new $2 billion hospital will ensure the community has access to high-quality and timely care now and into the future.

“We are investing more in health than any other time in our state’s history – more hospitals, more beds, and lower wait times. It’s as simple as that.”

The concept design outlines the planned locations of new and enhanced health services and facilities within the new multi-storey building, which will house acute health services including emergency, operating theatres and inpatient wards.

The early works planning application for the project is now on exhibition, marking a key step forward in the delivery of the new hospital. Early works will involve demolition of buildings to prepare the site for main works construction, and are expected to start in early 2026, subject to planning approval.

The Government is also investing $100 million to relocate the TAFE NSW Bankstown campus to enable construction of the new hospital. TAFE NSW will relocate most of its training and education services to the new Western Sydney University Tower, across the road from the existing Bankstown campus. This will ensure local staff and students can still access brand new facilities and bespoke teaching and learning spaces in the heart of the Bankstown CBD.

The Bankstown community is being encouraged to view and provide feedback on the design. Community information sessions are being held in November 2025, providing staff and local residents with the opportunity to speak directly with the project team and share their feedback.

Community information sessions:

  • Bankstown – Lidcombe Hospital main foyer Tuesday, 11 November 8am – 1pm
  • Bankstown – Lidcombe  Hospital main foyer Thursday, 13 November 8am – 1pm
  • Bankstown Central shopping centre near Coles, Thursday 13 November 5pm – 7pm.

Staff and the local community can also view the designs and provide feedback online via the interactive project website.
