Collaborative Care project launched for Leeton

A Collaborative Care project for Leeton, supported by NSW Health and facilitated by the Rural Doctors Network (RDN), is aiming to identify the healthcare needs of the local community and work together to create innovative solutions for the delivery of local healthcare services.

This collaborative approach will bring together health professionals, community members, Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN), and Leeton Shire Council to design a future-focused health service model.

The project is dedicated to fostering a holistic approach to health, with a strong focus on mental, physical, and social wellbeing for all members of the Leeton community.

“With the support of NSW Health, the Collaborative Care program is expanding to identify new innovative solutions to address the healthcare needs of the Leeton community,” said Minister for Regional Health, Ryan Park.

“Our goal is to ensure every resident in Leeton can access the care they need and that health care providers have sustainable solutions to ongoing challenges.”

Building on existing research and consultation, local healthcare providers – including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals – will work collaboratively with the community and partner organisations.

“We welcome the opportunity to improve local healthcare services and collaboration,” said Leeton Shire Mayor, George Weston.

“We thank the NSW Government for its investment in the project and are delighted to have the Rural Doctors Network facilitating the process.

“Our most recent community survey highlighted the importance of healthcare services to Leeton Shire residents and the Collaborative Care project provides a welcome opportunity to work together with key stakeholders – including the Local Health District and Primary Health Network – to consider any service or access gaps and how they can be closed.”

Leeton residents will soon be invited to participate in a health services survey to help guide the direction of the project.

“The Collaborative Care project has the potential to address important health care needs in Leeton,” said Collaborative Care Community Project Officer, Maryann Iannelli.

“By working together, the project will identify sustainable solutions that aim to improve access to healthcare, reduce wait times, and provide a more integrated health service experience for all.”
