Victorian detectives have charged a 31-year-old Rowville man after packages of cocaine and methylamphetamine were detected concealed inside a convection oven sent through the domestic freight system.
Collaboration between Icarus Taskforce detectives and Australian Border Force (ABF), including a thorough forensic search, revealed the concealment hidden within the oven.
The oven was deconstructed and found to contain two blocks of compressed powder, Victoria Police said in a statement.
A man was arrested on Thursday afternoon at his home address.
He was interviewed by investigators and subsequently charged with trafficking large commercial quantities of methylamphetamine and cocaine, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
The man was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 15 May.
