The Victorian Government is calling for applicants to join the Victorian Disability Advisory Council.
Minister for Disability, Lizzie Blandthorn, today called for applicants with lived experience of disability from diverse backgrounds, such as First Nations people, those from multicultural communities or the LGBTIQA+ community.
“The Victorian Disability Advisory Council makes sure that the views of people with disability have an influential role in decision-making,” said Minister Blandthorn.
“I give my thanks to the outgoing councillors, for their advocacy, engagement and tireless work helping make our state more accessible and inclusive.”
Members of the council provide policy and strategic advice to the Minister for Disability to improve the participation and inclusion of Victorians with disability, ensuring the voices of people with disability are heard.
“If making Victoria a more accessible and inclusive community is important to you, you should apply,” said Victorian Disability Advisory Council Chair, Chris Varney.
“The council influences policy across the entire government – it’s the chance to create real change.”
A maximum of 14 positions are available, including two positions for First Nations people. The chairperson and deputy chairperson roles will be filled by people with disability.
Council members will serve for a three-year term that starts on 31 July 2025.
Applications close on Saturday, 12 April 2025. For more information and to apply visit boards.vic.gov.au.
