Victoria Police have laid a further 775 charges against a trainee doctor as part of an ongoing investigation into the discovery of an illegal recording device at a number of Melbourne hospitals.
Detectives from Mernda Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team laid the additional charges against a 28-year-old man for a range of offences including stalking, produce intimate image and install optical surveillance device.
They relate to alleged offending at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Detectives first charged the trainee doctor, who was then employed at the Austin Hospital, with stalking after his colleagues allegedly found a camera in a restricted staff toilet on 3 July.
No alleged offending at any new facilities has been identified, Victoria Police said in a statement.
“The charges are in addition to 133 charges laid in July and August this year, bringing the total number of charges to 908,” Police said.
“It’s alleged a mobile phone was used as a recording device in staff toilets at all three hospitals.
“Police do not expect to identify further alleged victims.”
