35 new officers join Queensland policing frontline

Thirty-five new police officers have graduated from the Queensland Police Academy and are now preparing to begin frontline duties across the state.

The latest recruits will take up positions in Brisbane, Mackay, Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa and the Darling Downs.

The new officers will be deployed right across the State, including:

  • two to North Brisbane
  • six to South Brisbane
  • four to Mackay Whitsunday
  • four to Far North Queensland
  • three to Moreton
  • three to Wide Bay Burnett
  • eight to Townsville and Mount Isa
  • five to the Darling Downs

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Dan Purdie said the latest graduates would strengthen the state’s policing frontline.

“More police, stronger laws and fewer victims – that’s what Queenslanders can expect from the Crisafulli Government after a decade of Labor’s failure to keep our communities safe,” Mr Purdie said.

Queensland Police Acting Commissioner Brett Pointing also welcomed the new officers to the QPS.

“Graduation marks a significant milestone and the beginning of a rewarding career in service to the Queensland community,” Acting Commissioner Pointing said.

“As these graduates transition from recruit training to their duties as First Year Constables, they will have the privilege and responsibility of supporting people, keeping communities safe and making a positive difference in the lives of Queenslanders.

“Each new officer brings their own strengths, experiences and perspectives to the QPS – I encourage them to continue learning, uphold the highest standards and earn the trust of the communities they serve.”
