The Queensland Government has given the green light for critical upgrades to the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Eagle Farm ahead of the 2032 Games.
The Deputy Premier today approved a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) for the Royal Queensland Golf Club Master Plan, which he said would deliver a world-class venue in time for the Club to host golfing events at the 2032 Games.
The new additions will include a new championship-quality nine-hole golf course, an Eastern Pavilion, amenities and undercover deck, an administration building, kiosk and outdoor racquet sport facilities.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie said the Government was committed to delivering legacy infrastructure for 2032 and beyond.
“After 1,200 days of Labor Games chaos, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering generational infrastructure projects for 2032 and beyond,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“These critical upgrades to the Royal Queensland Golf Club will deliver a world-class golf facility to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“This will also provide a legacy for the golf course and provides for active transport for the broader community along the river frontage into the future.”
Royal Queensland Golf Club president, Robert McAfee said the eastern redevelopment would help position the Club for the future.
“Our Club has more than 100 years of history, and this project returns golf to the site of our original course while positioning the Club for the future,” Mr McAfee said.
“We thank the Queensland Government for its support in enabling this next chapter for our Club to commence.”
The State Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan identified Royal Queensland Golf Club as a potential, existing venue for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
